Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is a perfect architectural blend of Islamic, Middle Eastern, and Omani styles. Renowned for the world's largest chandelier and the world's second largest classical prayer carpet, is a must visit place in Oman. The gigantic chandelier is made of 600,000 Swarovski crystals while the exquisite carpet has an intricate pattern of 28 different colors and 1.7 billion knots. The Grand Mosque prayer hall is huge enough to hold over 6,500 people at one time. And to top it all it has a remarkable library with a collection of 20,000 books. The Oman Grand Mosque is open to visit for all. The visiting hours are from 8 am to 11 am from Saturday to Thursday, while the library is open from 9 am to 2 am and 4 pm to 9 pm from Saturday to Wednesday. The library is open on Thursday for the morning only.
